This is where cut panels actually become a garment. A sewing line is a sequence of workstations, each one a specific machine assigned a specific operation (attach collar, sew side seam, hem), with cut work moving from station to station until a finished garment comes off the end.
One operator sews an entire garment from start to finish. Simple to supervise, but slow — suited to very small runs or highly custom work, not bulk production.
The most common traditional system: bundles of cut panels move from operator to operator, each doing one operation on the whole bundle before passing it on. Each operation has a target time (SAM).
An overhead conveyor automatically moves individual garments (not bundles) between workstations in a set sequence, cutting down on manual handling and work-in-progress buildup.
A small team shares responsibility for a full garment or module, often standing and rotating between machines — built for flexibility rather than raw speed.
